Parent lines and genetic origin

Cheese is one of the most identifiable profiles in the international seed catalogue. It is associated with a Skunk-origin selection that appeared in the United Kingdom, which reached the European seed banks and which owes its name to a lactic, penetrating aroma, very different from the sweet or fruity register of the other families. Since then it has given rise to a long line of descendants and crosses that keep that cheese note.

Total Cheese Auto, also known as Super Cheese Auto, comes from a mix of the tastiest plants of the third generation of our Cheese line, crossed with Ruderalis. Its data sheet declares the genetics as Cheese × Critical × Ruderalis: to the lactic component are added the Critical base and a line of Cannabis ruderalis, the short-cycle subspecies adapted to high latitudes. That third element is what makes it autoflowering: in a photoperiod plant flowering starts when the photoperiod changes, whereas here the move from growth to flowering depends on the age of the plant.

What makes this strain recognisable

The cheese aroma is the trait that defines it and the one that cannot be confused with any other strain in the catalogue: a lactic, dense and penetrating note that takes the foreground. Behind it come the sweet and fruity nuances declared on the data sheet, which soften the whole without displacing the main component.

In structure it is a large plant that develops buds so heavy that the branches need support. It sits at the opposite end from the compact autoflowering strains in the range: it is one of those that reach the greatest volume.

As in any seed population there is variation between phenotypes: these traits describe the average of the selection, not one specific plant.

About the large formats

Besides the 6-seed pack, Total Cheese Auto is offered in packs of 100 and 1,000 seeds. They are single-strain packs, with no mixes: all the seeds come from the same selection of mother plants as the small format, so what changes is the quantity and not the genetic material.

How does it differ from Total Cheese feminized?

In what triggers flowering. The feminized one is photoperiod and changes phase when the photoperiod changes. Total Cheese Auto carries ruderalis in its cross, so the change depends on the age of the plant. Both share the aroma profile of the line, but not the habit: the feminized data sheet describes it as a low, closed plant, whereas this autoflowering version is large.
