Parent lines and genetic origin

Patagonia Fast starts from the same documented cross that gives the line its name: OG Kush × Northern Lights, two parent lines with an indica profile from the bank’s selection programme. That combination gives the declared genotype of 80% indica and 20% sativa, the same as the feminized version.

The fast version is built on that base. A fast version is a photoperiod feminized: it goes into flowering when the light cycle changes, just like a conventional feminized. What sets it apart is that its ancestry includes a contribution of ruderalis, the subspecies that gives autoflowering strains their autoflowering. That contribution is then backcrossed towards the photoperiod line, so the trait that shortens flowering is kept while autoflowering is lost.

A fast does not flower on its own after a few weeks, the way an auto does, nor does it carry the full cycle of the feminized: here the declared flowering is around 53 days, compared with the 60 days of indoor flowering of the Patagonia feminized.

What makes this strain recognisable

Aroma is where this version separates most clearly from the feminized. The Patagonia page sums up its profile in a single word, sweet; here three registers appear in layers: an earthy base, the sweetness of the line above it and a few citrus hints that lighten the whole.

The structure follows the declared 80% indica load: a medium-sized plant, heavily branched, with thick, resinous buds. It is a closed silhouette, with short internodes and abundant branching.

How it fits within the catalogue

• Patagonia feminized is the reference for measuring how much this version shortens the cycle: it declares 60 days of indoor flowering against the 53 days of the fast, with the same 80% indica and 20% sativa genotype and a declared THC of 18–23%.
• Black Domina Fast is the other markedly indica strain in the fast collection: an almost pure indica genotype, 45–50 declared days and an earthy, spicy profile with hashish notes, without the sweet component or the citrus of this page.

About the large formats

The 100-seed and 1,000-seed packs are single-strain. They are not mixes or assorted lots: they contain only Patagonia Fast and come from exactly the same selection of mother plants as the small pack.

What changes is the price per seed: in the small pack it works out at €3.33, in the 100-seed pack it drops to €2.40 and in the 1,000-seed pack it stays at €1.20. The rest of the large formats are in bulk seeds.

Frequently asked questions about Patagonia Fast

What is the difference between a fast version, a feminized and an autoflowering?

All three are feminized, but they do not behave the same way. The classic feminized is photoperiod: it flowers when the light cycle changes. The autoflowering carries ruderalis in its cross and flowers by age, without depending on the photoperiod. The fast version is photoperiod like the feminized, but it has some ruderalis in its ancestry, just enough to shorten flowering without becoming automatic.

How many days does it shorten compared with the feminized?

This page declares around 53 days of flowering and the Patagonia feminized page declares 60 days of indoor flowering. These are catalogue data for comparing strains with each other, not a forecast of result.

Why does it declare less THC than the Patagonia feminized?
