White Widow is one of the most repeated names in the recent history of cannabis. It is associated with the European scene of the nineties and with a resin coverage so dense and pale that it ended up giving the strain its name; over the years it stopped being a single line and became a wide family. That context belongs to White Widow as a general category, not to this line in particular.

This page starts from Trikoma Seeds’ White Widow, whose documented cross is Widow Bilbo × Widow BCN, two Widow lines selected separately. The fast version is built on that base. A fast version is a photoperiod feminized strain: it goes into flowering when the light cycle changes, just like a conventional feminized one. What sets it apart is that there is a ruderalis contribution in its ancestry, the subspecies that gives autoflowering strains their autoflowering behaviour.

That contribution is then backcrossed towards the photoperiod line, so that the trait which shortens flowering is kept but the autoflowering is lost. A fast does not flower on its own after a few weeks, the way an auto does: here the declared range is 40 to 49 days, against the 47–56 days of indoor flowering of the feminized one.

The aroma keeps the backbone of the line, but pared down. The data sheet of the feminized one describes an earthy and spiced base with citrus, floral and pine nuances; here the register concentrates on three elements: the earthy as a background, the pine notes that lift it and a spiced touch behind.

The other inherited trait is the resin coating: a dense, pale layer over the bud and the nearest leaves. With a declared 40–49 days, this page is the shortest-cycle one of the whole fast collection.

About the large formats

The 100- and 1,000-seed packs are single-strain. They are not mixes or assorted lots: they contain only White Widow Fast and come from exactly the same selection of mother plants as the small pack.

What changes is the price per seed: in the small pack it works out at €3.33, in the 100-seed one it drops to €2.40 and in the 1,000-seed one it stays at €1.20. The rest of the strains in large format are in bulk seeds.

What is the difference between a fast version, a feminized and an autoflowering strain?

All three are feminized, but they do not behave the same. The classic feminized one is photoperiod: it flowers when the light cycle changes. The autoflowering one carries ruderalis in its cross and flowers with age, without depending on the photoperiod. The fast version is photoperiod like the feminized one, but it has some ruderalis in its ancestry, just enough to shorten flowering without becoming automatic.

How many days does it shorten compared with the feminized one?
