AK-47 is one of the most repeated names in the international seed catalogue. It is associated with a hybrid built from South American, Mexican, Thai and Afghan lines, which began to circulate around European banks in the nineties and has since served as the base for countless crosses. The fresh and fruity profile and the very productive structure are the hallmarks by which the family is recognised.

The line maintained by Trikoma Seeds is called AK-74 and is the one that gives rise to this autoflowering version. The page declares a cross of Ruderalis × AK-74: a Cannabis ruderalis line, the short-cycle subspecies adapted to high latitudes, is added to the photoperiod parent. In a photoperiod strain flowering starts when the photoperiod changes; here it does not. Ruderalis passes on a character that makes the shift from growth to flowering depend on the age of the plant and not on the photoperiod.

In structure it is a compact plant that develops a large quantity of medium-sized buds spread all over the plant, instead of concentrating them in a single dominant cola. About the large formats

In addition to the 6-seed pack, AK-74 Auto is offered in packs of 100 and 1,000 seeds. They are single-strain packs, with no mixes: all the seeds come from the same mother plant selection as the small format, so what changes is the quantity and not the genetic material.

The difference is in the price per seed, which drops from €3.33 in the small format to €2.40 in the 100-seed pack and to €1.20 in the 1,000-seed pack. The whole catalogue in these formats is in bulk seeds.

In how they go into flowering. The feminized one is photoperiod and changes phase when the photoperiod changes. AK-74 Auto carries ruderalis in its cross, so the change depends on the age of the plant. The AK-74 lineage and the fresh and fruity profile are common to both.

What exactly does the ruderalis contribute?

The autoflowering character. Cannabis ruderalis comes from high latitudes, where the season is short, and passes on a development that is not governed by the photoperiod. Crossed with AK-74 it gives a plant that keeps the profile of the family and adds that character independent of the photoperiod.

What does the declared THC of 15–20% mean?

It is the range the bank declares for its parent lines, not a measurement of each seed. It serves to place the strain against others in the catalogue and to compare them with each other.
