Jack Herer takes its name from the American activist and writer Jack Herer, and it is one of the most recognised sativas in the European catalogue. It appeared on the nineties scene and quickly became a reference when describing the Haze character: long flowering, a slender plant and an aroma that resembles almost nothing else around it. As happens with very widespread genetics, today there are numerous versions under the same name, worked on by different banks.

The documented lineage on this page combines Haze, Northern Lights #5 and Shiva Skunk. Each parent contributes something different: the Haze block explains the bearing, the long leaf and the extended cycle; Northern Lights #5 and Shiva Skunk introduce the resinous load and the denser, Afghan notes of the profile. The resulting split is 90% sativa and 10% indica, one of the most markedly sativa in the catalogue.

What makes this strain recognisable

The aromatic profile of Jack Herer is one of the most singular to appear on a seed page. The description starts from two notes that do not usually live together: incense and hashish. The incense brings a resinous, dry register, almost of burnt wood, while the hashish adds a dark, dense layer that recalls pressed resin more than fresh flower.

On that base appear the Afghan nuances, which reinforce the earthy and heavy side of the whole, and a fruity skunk that breaks the seriousness of the profile with something fleshier and sweeter. The light touch of lime that closes the description works as a counterpoint: it is a minimal note, citrus and sharp, that stays at the edge of the aroma and keeps it alive.

The structure matches the declared 90% sativa. They are tall, slender plants, with long, narrow leaves and elongated buds, heavily loaded with resin, which visibly depart from the compact silhouette of the indicas. The declared indoor flowering of 77 to 85 days is the longest in the feminized catalogue, something characteristic of lines with a Haze load.
