The name Gorilla identifies one of the most recognisable branches of modern American genetics. It is associated with the west coast and the Chem environment, a trunk of pungent, resinous character, far from the sweetness of the Cookies family. That context belongs to Gorilla as a general strain, not to this line in particular.

This page starts from Trikoma Seeds’ Gorilla, whose documented cross is Chem Sis × Sour Dubb × Chocolate Diesel. The fast version is built on that base. A fast version is a photoperiod feminized strain: it enters flowering when the light cycle changes, just like a conventional feminized one. What sets it apart is that its ancestry contains a contribution of ruderalis, the subspecies that gives autoflowering strains their autoflowering trait.

That contribution is introduced and then backcrossed towards the photoperiod line, so that the trait which shortens flowering is kept but the autoflowering is lost. A fast does not flower by itself after a few weeks, as an auto does, nor does it drag out the full cycle of the feminized one: here the declared range is 43 to 53 days, against the 50–60 days of indoor flowering of the feminized Gorilla.

The aromatic profile of this version is described on two levels. The base is earthy and diesel: a heavy background of fuel and earth, which is the classic signature of the Chem environment. On top of it rises an acidic, citrus touch that cuts through that density.

Compared with the feminized data sheet, which sums up its aroma as pine and citrus, here the accent shifts towards the earthy and the diesel. The line’s other mark is the resin: Gorilla is known for its density of trichomes, and this version keeps that trait with a declared cycle of 43 to 53 days, one of the shortest in the fast collection.

About the large formats

The 100 and 1,000 seed packs are of a single strain. They are not mixes or assorted batches: they contain only Gorilla Fast and come from exactly the same selection of mother plants as the small pack.

What changes is the price per seed: in the small pack it works out at €3.33, in the 100-seed pack it drops to €2.40 and in the 1,000-seed pack it stays at €1.20. The rest of the strains in large format are in bulk seeds.

Frequently asked questions about Gorilla Fast

What is the difference between a fast version, a feminized and an autoflowering strain?

All three are feminized, but they do not behave the same. The classic feminized one is photoperiod: it flowers when the light cycle changes. The autoflowering one carries ruderalis in its cross and flowers by age, without depending on the photoperiod. The fast version is photoperiod like the feminized one, but it has some ruderalis in its ancestry, just enough to shorten flowering without becoming automatic.

How many days does it shorten compared with the feminized one?

This page declares 43–53 days of flowering and the Gorilla feminized one, 50–60 days of indoor flowering. These are catalogue data for comparing strains with one another, not a forecast of result.

Why does it declare less THC than the feminized Gorilla?
